Press Release- Sutton Accepts Ten Debates; Noem Agrees to Two

BURKE, SD -- Senator Billie Sutton, candidate for South Dakota Governor, has accepted invitations to ten debates and forums in the general election and is in the process of scheduling at least five others. His opponent, Congresswoman Kristi Noem, today publicized that she has agreed to only two debates.

Sutton for South Dakota campaign manager Suzanne Jones Pranger said, “It’s really no surprise Congresswoman Noem isn’t willing to have open debates with Billie Sutton. She hasn’t shown up for her job in Congress, missing more votes this year than 93% of her colleagues in the US House. She hasn’t been showing up in South Dakota either, turning down approximately 87% of all general election public debate and forum invitations. With an attendance record like that, how can South Dakotans trust that she’ll show up for them in the State Capitol?”

Senator Billie Sutton has already accepted invitations to the following ten debates and forums and is in the process of scheduling more:

  • KELOLAND TV Gubernatorial Debate
  • South Dakota Public Broadcasting Gubernatorial Debate
  • South Dakota Farm Bureau’s Dakota Fest Forum
  • KSFY State Fair Gubernatorial Debate
  • KTIV Channel 4 News Debate
  • SDPB, Associated School Boards of South Dakota, & School Administrators of South Dakota’s Education Debate
  • Sioux Empire Home Builders Association Forum
  • South Dakota Municipal League Forum
  • SD Association of Healthcare Organizations & SD State Medical Association Forum
  • South Dakota Petroleum and Propane Marketers Association Debate
